ARMATEX® SILICONE/INTUMESCENT COATED FABRICS
Intumescent coating is made with a protective substance that is activated by a heat generating chemical reaction. The initiation of this reaction causes the intumescent particles to swell and form an insulating layer on a surface, with or without release of water. The key feature of intumescents is that they expand significantly when exposed to high temperatures, such as those found in a fire. Therefore, this type of coating provides a cost-effective as well as practical solution for fire protection.
Mid-Mountain has used intumescent technology to engineer ARMATEX® SIF Silicone/Intumescent Coated Fabrics for use in cargo holds of aircraft, as well as other applications where fire and weathering are a concern.
Available in both 24 oz/sy and 28 oz/sy weights, ARMATEX® SIF Coated Fabrics are flexible, non-toxic, have no odor, low heat release and low smoke, and are refractory fire resistant.
Coated on one side with an intumescent coating and the other side with silicone rubber, ARMATEX® SIF Coated Fabrics can be used for both indoor and outdoor use, with applications including cargo covers, fire and smoke barriers, and construction protective barriers. With outstanding durability and flexibility, ARMATEX® SIF Coated Fabrics provides superior protection from UV, moisture and mildew, and have high dirt resistance and excellent washability.
