In addition to thermal barriers and seals for aircraft, Mid-Mountain is dedicated to ensuring the safety of passengers as they board the aircraft. ARMATEX® SF 37 Jetstar is designed for use as folding canopies on passenger boarding bridges (air bridges, jet bridges and jetways. With high flexural resistance, this coated fabric is abrasion, weather resistant and has superior strength. In addition, ARMATEX® SF 37 Jetstar meets or exceeds the requirements of the NFPA specifications 255 and 701*, and is classified as Class A per NFPA 101, Life Safety Code.
Safety in the cargo bay of an airplane is a large part of passenger safety. The very real risk of sudden fires known to break out in cargo holds requires a solution for passenger safety. In response to this risk, Mid-Mountain developed ARMATEX® NF 14 Cargo Tex, a fire-resistant coated fabric designed for smoke curtains and liner fabric for cargo bays of commercial aircraft and cargo planes. ARMATEX® NF 14 CARGO TEX utilizes a high-strength woven fiberglass as a substrate for an innovative polymer coating. The fiberglass fabric is the strongest available for its weight and with the polymer coating the fabric has incredible dimensional stability and exceptional flame retardant characteristics, meets or exceeds the requirements of BMS8-343, Type I & Ill, and passes the FAA specification for Radiant Panel Flammability Testing.
Our wide range of chemical formulation, fabric coating, weaving, and fabrication capabilities allow us to offer solutions to all aerospace and aviation manufacturing needs, as well as those for spacecraft. In conjunction with Jet Propulsion Laboratories (JPL), Air Born Systems and NASA, we developed a high performance coated fabric for potential use as a Supersonic Inflatable Aerodynamic Decelerator (SIAD-E) for the Mars 2020 Rover. The SIAD-E was designed to fully deploy un under two seconds at conditions up to Mach 4 and dynamic pressures up to 2000 Pa. The most challenging part of engineering this fabric was coating silicone compound onto Technora braided fabric which is a very dimensionally unstable and heat sensitive fabric

*NFPA 701, Section 8-6, Accelerated Weathering is a prerequisite for the test specimen to be tested in, and in accordance with, NFPA 417.
