Thermal insulation materials are designed, first and foremost, to mitigate the transfer of heat from one object to another. This may refer to the heat from a boiler escaping through the chamber walls into the surrounding atmosphere, or the high ambient temperatures of processing lines from impacting the sensitive electronics of robotic construction devices.

Specialist formats of thermal insulation are designed to satisfy high thermal demands alongside additional performance parameters, such as conforming to complex geometries or adhering to surfaces. This usually requires additional processing. Fiberglass yarn, for instance, can be converted into a tightly-woven textile rope, or coated with vermiculite to generate a thermally-insulating tape. Each of these formats benefits from the underlying thermodynamic stability of fiberglass that suits a broad range of applications, while in a configuration that meets specialist demands.

Fiberglass Rope

At Mid-Mountain Materials, Inc. we fabricate a wide range of specialist thermal insulation configurations to satisfy unique KPIs in various markets, including tapes, ropes, and sleeves.

Thermally-Insulating Tapes

Our thermal insulation tapes come under three primary product lines: ARMATEX® Coated Tapes, THERMOPAK® Woven Tadpole Gaskets, and HYTEX® 1000 Woven Tapes.

Based on variable weight fiberglass that has been treated with a proprietary vermiculite coating, our ARMATEX® Firestar thermal insulation is ideal for high-temperature working environments such as metalworks and welding lines. It is often utilized in welding protection and removable thermal insulation jackets.

Our THERMOPAK® Tadpole Gaskets, meanwhile, are engineered to custom specifications using a core of insulation material covered with a high-temperature thermal insulation tape based on fiberglass or silica. This tried-and-tested bulb-shaped format is widely used to insulate furnace doors, heat shield components and gas fireplaces.

HYTEX® 1000 Tapes are manufactured from fiberglass in a variety of widths and thicknesses, and are excellent for use as door, oven and furnace seals.

Thermal Insulation Sleeves

At Mid-Mountain, we utilize a selective range of thermal insulation materials to provide a vertically-integrated service, often yielding completely bespoke solutions for client requests. Our THERMOPAK® range represents that commitment to flexibility. We have used THERMOPAK® thermal insulation to fabricate cable insulation sleeves, robot protection solutions, and many more products designed on a custom-fit basis. We also have the capacity to generate extremely high temperature braided sleeving using a wide variety of substrates.

Thermally-Insulating Ropes

We generate high-temperature resistant fiberglass ropes with exceptional wear-resistant properties using HYTEX® 1000 fiberglass. The HYTEX® range is likewise incredibly diverse, with a choice of substrate materials for our knitted/braided ropes. Braiding fiberglass into rope imparts greater density and superior mechanical properties, enabling it to be used for emissions control in fireplaces and smelters.
